Mountaineers Maintain No. 1 Ranking

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team continues to rank No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Rankings.

This week’s rankings are based on season averages, and the Mountaineers (9-0, 6-0 GARC) boast the nation’s best average of 4725.778.

TCU ranks No. 2 with a 4718.25 average, and Kentucky follows at No. 3 with a 4702.555 average. Murray State (4694.25 avg.) and Alaska-Fairbanks (4684.714 avg.) rank No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Ohio State (4674.0 avg.) sits at No. 6 and is followed by Nevada (4665.571 avg.) at No. 7 and Air Force (4658.857 avg.) at No. 8. Mississippi (4655.0 avg.) and Nebraska (4653.111 avg.) round out the top 10.

The Mountaineers travel West this weekend for a pair of top-10 matches in Fairbanks, Alaska. WVU lines up against the No. 9 Rebels on Saturday, Jan. 20, and the No. 5 Nanooks on Sunday, Jan. 21. Both matches at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range will begin at noon EST.
